a. What is AP (Advanced Placement)?
AP (Advanced Placement) is a program in the United States and Canada that is created by College Board, offering college‐level curriculum and examination. All grades are recognized by all US universities as well as over 5000 universities in over 50 countries and places, such as UK, Canada, Australia and Hong Kong. Top universities can easily judge the student’s capability and confidence by the numbers of AP courses that the student takes during his / her secondary school.

AP tests are scored on a 1 to 5 scale, and most of the colleges in the United States will grant course credits to the students who obtain score 3 or above on the AP examination of the relevant course (normally the college will grant 3‐6 credits for one AP course). In general, each college course worth for 3 credits, equivalent to USD 3000, therefore, one course credit worth for USD1000 or above. One valid AP course result can help the student to save USD 3000‐6000. Therefore, studying AP curriculum does not only help the student to save tuition fee, but also helps the student to graduate from the university earlier.

AP is also called pre‐university program, meaning that studying AP courses can help the students to adapt to the university curriculums in advance, and thus helping the students to obtain better grades during their university.
